The Great Depression lasted from 1929-1939. However, the lingering effects of the the crushed economy made life very hard for people living in rural Appalachia after the depression had ended. People were forced to work hard, be resourceful and creative to keep their families from starving. You can learn a lot of survival lessons from those that lived during the Great Depression.
Jason’s Grandmother is 89 and was born during the depression. She has a keen memory of what it was like to live during those times. She tells of the crops and livestock she worked as a child. She also shared stories of struggling families in her community that would have starved if not for the generosity of her family.
